Home of Hope International
Helping children in need

Sri Lanka is an island nation off the southern tip of India. The country’s 19 million inhabitants come from various religious and economic backgrounds. It is an island of deep-rooted culture and untold beauty, with palm trees and white sand beaches.

However, this island once described as “the pearl of the Indian Ocean”, has been torn apart by an ongoing civil war that has lasted 19 years. The war has taken the lives of thousands of people and left the country in ruin. Many families are missing one or both parents and live in abject poverty. It is estimated that over 200,000 children have been orphaned, displaced or otherwise affected by the war.

Home of Hope is a comprehensive care facility for abandoned war orphans. The home is situated on 12.5 hectares in Digana, close to Kandy. We already have taken in a few children but thousands remain in dire need. With your support we could help so many more.

Our vision and desire is to provide total care for these desperate children, not only meeting their basic needs but also providing them with a good education and a nurturing environment in which they can grow and develop. Home of Hope wants to give each child the opportunity to develop a range of social, educational, spiritual and leadership skills. We believe that these children can become tomorrow’s leaders and play a valuable role in bringing peace back to this war-torn nation.
